Arnold, MO May 10, 2008 – Mark Powell, democratic candidate for Missouri
State Treasurer, today announced that Joyce Deckman has joined his
campaign staff as Director of Volunteers and Scheduling.
Deckman, an Arnold City Councilwoman and board member of the Mid-East
Area Agency on Aging is a lifelong democratic activist. Her late husband,
Michael Deckman, worked tirelessly on behalf of labor, first as a Business
Representative and then as a congressional aide to former Congressman
Dick Gephardt. When Joyce Deckman was not busy helping her fellow
Jefferson County Democrats get elected, she diligently volunteered her
time for Gephardt and other democrats across the state.
Powell said of Deckman “Joyce’s commitment to the democratic party, her
vast volunteer and campaign experience as well as her dedication to labor
makes her the ideal person for this job.”
Deckman is thrilled to take on this role. “Mark is the most experienced
candidate for this job. His background as a banker, accountant, financial
professional and mayor makes him duly qualified to be the next Treasurer
of the State of Missouri.”
